This unit procedure simulates a short-cut batch distillation process. The relative volatility of each component is either specified by the user or calculated by the program (assuming ideal solutions). For each distillation period (cut), the user specifies the reflux ratio and the percent of initial charge distilled during that period. If the distillation time is to be calculated (under rating mode), the user also specifies the vapor rate for each period.
● Bottoms: the designated output port for the bottoms.
The following operation types are currently supported in the context of this unit procedure:
● Distill, see Batch Distillation
● Vaporize / Solvent Switch, see Batch Vaporization / Solvent Switch
● CIP, see Clean-In-Place (CIP)
● Cool, see Batch Cooling
● Heat, see Batch Heating
● Hold, see Holding
● Pull In, see Pull In
● Pull Out, see Pull Out
● React (Stoichiometric), see Batch Stoichiometric Reaction
● SIP, see Steam-In-Place (SIP)
● Split (Component Flow), see Batch Component Splitting
● Transfer In, see Transfer In
● Transfer Out, see Transfer Out
The following procedures offer a similar functionality:
● Continuous (Short-Cut) Distillation Procedure
● Continuous (Rigorous) Distillation Procedure
