Batch reverse osmosis (RO) is mainly used for removing ionic species and medium MW solutes from relatively small volumes of water. Typical applications include water desalination and ultra-pure water production. In the biotech field, RO filters have been used to concentrate and purify antibiotics.

      Filtrate: the designated output port for the filtrate.
