Batch ultrafiltration is used for removing large MW solutes and particulate components from water and other solvents. In the biotech and food industries, tangential flow ultrafiltration is primarily used for concentrating protein solutions and separating proteins from low molecular weight solutes. In water purification it is used for removing small suspended and colloidal particles. Ultrafiltration membranes are rated based on molecular weight cut-off of spherical proteins that cannot pass through the membrane. Membranes are available with MW cut-off ranging from 2,000 Daltons up to 1,000,000 Daltons.

Special Inputs / Outputs

Filtrate: the designated output port for the filtrate.
