This unit procedure simulates the separation of solid particles from liquid in a suspension using a hydrocyclone. Hydrocyclones are used widely as a substitute of centrifugation in mineral processing as well as in corn milling and other agricultural industries.
● Overflow: the designated output port for the overflow (consisting mainly of liquid).
● Underflow: the designated output port for the underflow (consisting mainly of particles).
The following operation type is currently supported in the context of this unit procedure:
● Cyclone, see Centrifugation in a Hydrocyclone
The following procedures offer a similar functionality:
● Centrifugation in a Gas Cyclone Procedure
● Centrifugation in a Decanter Procedure
● Centrifugation in a Disk-Stack Centrifuge Procedure
