Please note that in the Recovered Energy Matches dialog only those heat recipients are shown (cold operations and heating agents), that are compatible with the selected heat source (hot operation). Compatible recipients are only those candidates that have an input temperature smaller than the heat source. Further feasibility checks are performed upon exiting the dialog. |
To match a heat recipient operation with a heat source you must double click on the check-box cell at the beginning of each row. Once checked the last column (Match ‘%’) will be updated showing the percentage of load that has been saved. At the same time the Available for Transfer heat will have changed, leaving less load to be matched with another operation. Continuing to match heat recipient operations with the same heat will eventually deplete all the heat, which will cause the rest of the rows to be disabled and be greyed out. In order to match the heat with one of the rows that has been disabled, the user must un-check one of the matched operations to make some heat load available again.
All of the heat from a hot operation can be matched with one Heat Transfer Agent, simply by clicking on the row of the utility. Once a heating agent utility is selected the Select button gets enabled and by clicking it the dialog exits.
Before this interface closes the program makes sure the selected match is feasible. A match may be infeasible because the temperatures and loads are such that make it impossible for the source operation to heat up a cold operation. On the other hand it also may be infeasible because the source and recipient operations when in batch mode, are not executed in the same time frame (absolute start and end time of the recipient operation must be less than that of the sources). If the match is infeasible the following messages are produced:
Even though the match may not make sense the user may still choose to keep and continue to exit the matching interface.
Any matches made will show in the Energy Recovery Opportunities Dialog in the heat sources table as well as an indication of whether the match is feasible or not with a green tick or a red respectively. To see more details regarding the matches the user may expand this dialog by clicking on Show Recipients of Energy Recovered >>. The following figure shows the expanded interface with the heat source operations table plus the recipient operations and heating agents tables.
The last column on the tables displays the percentage of the load that has been matched with the respective recipients. Please note that when a heat source is matched with a heating agent we assume that we have an infinite supply of that heat transfer agent and therefore the cooling load matched is 100%.
