Exporting Data To Another SupePro DB

Sometimes you may want to share only a portion of your data (or only some databanks) contained in your ‘SuperPro (User)’ database but not its entire contents (for proprietary reasons). In that case, you can’t just hand your ‘SuperPro’ DB file to another user and have him import any data they wish. Instead, you can use the Databanks } Export Data to Another SuperPro (User) DB... option from the main menu and selectively export only the databanks that you wish to share (but nothing else). You may ask the recipient of the data to send you his/her ‘SuperPro’ database base and use that as the starting database file; or, you can use a template ‘SuperPro’ database file that is supplied with the software, that essentially is an empty ‘SuperPro’ database file; the file exists in your “DBases” folder and its appropriately named. Once you’ve exported to that file only the databanks that you wish to export, then you can send that file to your colleague for sharing the data.

Please note that the process will export (selectively) the following databanks:

      Pure Components

      Stock Mixtures

      Binary Coefficients

      Heat Transfer Agents

      Power Types

      Labor Types

      Consumables

      Equipment Construction Materials

      Equipment Specification Variables

      Currencies

      CIP Templates

User-Defined Cost Models (UDCMs) for Equipment Purchase Cost Estimation

However, the export procedure, will not be able to export the following databanks:

      Sites

      Equipment in Sites (or Site-Equipment)

      Vendor-Equipment (Equipment Spec Sheets)

      Vendors/Manufacturers

Extra Equipment Specifications for Equipment Types

Exporting data to another database requires that the source and destination database files are preformatted by Intelligen and designed to be used with SuperPro Designer. The source database file cannot be in another vendor’s format. Also, the export process requires that both source and destination database files are of the same version (and be the version supported by the current release of your SuperPro Designer software). If either the source or destination database file is of an older format, then you must upgrade it (or better yet upgrade a copy of it) using the Databanks } Upgrade a Past Version User DB File... option from the main menu, and then use the converted file as a source (or destination) for export. The actual copying of the data is done using the Export Data to Another SuperPro (User) DB File Dialog that appears when you select Databanks } Export Data to Another SuperPro (User) DB... from the application’s main menu.
