The following table shows the meaning of the variables appearing in this tab, as well as their default values and their generally acceptable range. Note that due to the manner by which the variables are used by the sizing and costing equations, the range of acceptable values may be further reduced.

This equipment requires use of a ‘Diafiltration Membrane’ consumable which may be specified from the Membrane Filter: Consumables tab. The default consumable defined for a Diafilter is a Dft ED Stack with 1 membrane pair of 10 m2 area.
In Design Mode with the consumable type being on a per item basis, the user specifies the Maximum Number of Stacks and SuperPro will calculate the Number of Stacks, the Number of Units and the Membrane Area. If the consumable type is on a per area basis, the user specifies the Maximum Membrane Area and SuperPro will calculate the required Number of Units.
In Rating Mode, the user specifies the Number of Stacks (consumable on a per item basis) or the available Membrane Area (consumable on a per area basis) and SuperPro will calculate the corresponding removal percentage of the key component.
The equipment purchase cost is based on the membrane’s area. By default it is calculated by the program’s built-in model for a Diafilter with a minimum membrane area of 5.0 m2.
