Variable Definitions, Ranges and Default Values

The following table shows a brief description of the variables appearing in this tab. The table also displays their default values and their generally acceptable range:

Variable

Default Value

Range

Non-Bed Pressure Drop (kPa)
The pressure drop before and after the bed.

5.0

Positive

Bed-Pressure Drop Rate (Pa/cm)
The pressure drop in the bed per bed length.

100.0

Positive

Fluid Viscosity (cP)
The average viscosity of the fluid in the bed.

1.0

Positive

Specification Choices / Comments

The following list describes the available specification choices in this tab; for more details on how these are implemented, see Granular Media Filtration: Modeling Calculations.

Bed Pressure Drop Rate Options...

The pressure drop per bed depth (for a clean bed) is either set by the user or calculated using one of the following models: Carmen-Kozeny, Rose, or Fair-Hatch.
