Centrifugation in a Hydrocyclone: Oper. Conds Tab (Based on B. Diam. & Inlet Vel.)

HydrocycloningOperCondsForVelocity.jpg

This tab appears on the interface dialog of the Hydrocycloning operation (see Centrifugation in a Hydrocyclone) when the options to size the equipment based on body diameter and inlet velocity are selected through the Equipment tab of the Hydrocyclone that hosts this operation (see Hydrocyclone: Equipment Tab).

Variable Definitions, Ranges and Default Values

The following table shows a brief description of the variables appearing in this tab. The table also displays their default values and their generally acceptable range:

Variable

Default Value

Range

Inlet Velocity (m/s)
The inlet velocity of the feed stream.

5.0

Positive

Pressure Drop (Pa)
The pressure drop of each hydrocyclone.

0.0

Zero or Positive

Operating Throughput (per Unit) (m3/h)
The volumetric liquid/solid flow rate of the feed stream divided by the number of units.

0.0

Positive

Power Type
Indicates the power type that is used by the operation. Click on the list box to bring up a list of available power types in order to select one.

<Std Power>

Any Power Type

(Power Consumption) Efficiency
The ratio of ideal to actual power consumption by this operation (for pumping, etc.).

100.0

(0, 100]

Power (kW)
The total power consumption for the entire operation (i.e., for all equipment units).

0.0

Positive

Power Dissipation to Heat (%)
The percentage of total power consumed for this operation that turns into heat, thereby raising the temperature of the material contained in the equipment.

100.0

[0,100]

Symbol Key: User-specified value (always input); Calculated value (always output); Sometimes input, sometimes output
